Аннотация:A task of studying the nature of UV-upturn in spectra of early-type galaxies is proposed for the space project SPECTRUM-UV. Integrated UV spectra of E galaxies can be in principle explained in the frame of a solar-metallicity old stellar population model, only if one takes into account the latest evolutionary stages of stars, namely, post-AGB and EHB. However, far-UV images of several E galaxies obtained recently by the UIT/ASTRO-2 mission have shown that UV radiation is stronger concentrated to the nuclei than optical one and demonstrates an exponential surface brightness profile, more appropriate to thin stellar disks than to spheroids. It is inconsistent with the idea that the UV and optical radiations both belong to a single star generation. The problem of an origin of the UV sources in the centers of E/S0 galaxies can be solved only by a complex approach including surface photometry in the far-UV (the Field Camera) and long-slit spectroscopy (HIRDES).
