Аннотация:This article attempts to collect detailed information about the visual characteristics of fabrics, that are characteristic of black-glazed ceramics from various centers, most often found inthe Northern Black Sea region: Attica, Corinth, a number of Asia Minor centers (includingPergamum, Sardis, Ephesus, Daskyleon, Knidos), Thasos, the Western Black Sea coast, Laconiaand Southern Italy. As illustrations, examples of microphotographs of fabrics of vesselsfrom excavations in Kerch Bay and late Hellenistic layers of Tanais are given. Consideringthat the determination of places of production of tableware in the vast majority of cases iscarried out on the basis of an analysis of forms and an assessment of the structure, colorand impurities of clay dough (special analyzes are expensive and are currently not possiblefor statistically significant series of samples), this information can be used in practical workwith collections of finds.
