Аннотация:In many cases, deepfakes are a source of joy, fun, and innocent trickery, as well as an example of the impressive advances in technology that have helped people in education, health care, and other areas. However, the malicious use of deepfakes (MUD) is a current social problem that threatens to inflict extensive damage on individuals, democratic institutions, social stability, and international security. This chapter aims to analyze the current practice of MUD, its role in destabilizing psychological security and political stability. The systemic approach adopted in this study seeks to avoid one-sided assessments, by providing an objective analysis of the interrelated aspects of the development and use of deepfakes. The use of the dialectical method suggests that any phenomenon should be considered in light of the duality of its properties and characteristics, in order to find contradictions and mutual disposition (e.g., objective connection, unity, and dependence). This is particularly important for this case of dual-use technology which, due to the nature of social relations in modern society, can be deliberately used to either benefit or harm people.
