Аннотация:In earlier research (Menshikova et al, 2010 Perception 39 ECVP Supplement, 178) we found that the strength of SLC was changed when gray targets were perceived in different depth plane from the backgrounds. To confirm the role of the disparity cue in lightness perception we studied the additional types of 3D configurations. Stereo pairs were constructed to form different types of 3D scenes: gray targets were 1) moved out of the backgrounds being coplanar with it; 2) deviated at the same vertical slants to the backgrounds; 3) deviated at different slants to it; 4) both gray targets and the backgrounds were deviated at different slants. 38 observers (14 male, 24 female) were tested. Stereo pairs were presented using HMD technique (eMagin Z800 3D Visor). The method of constant stimuli was used to estimate the illusion strength. We found that the strength of SLC weakly depended on 1) and 2) types of 3D configuration and changed for 3) and 4) types. The illusion strength increased / decreased with the relationship between the slants of gray targets and the direction of perceived illumination. The differences in SLC perception may be interpreted in terms of invariant relationship between lightness and apparent illumination.
