Аннотация:The stereoselective synthesis of threonine derivatives is a promising method for preparing
threonine from readily available ethyl acetoacetate (EAA) (I). The step involving the
hydrogenation of ethyl ~-acetylamino-B-ketobutyrate (II) which is the major step in the methods described by various workers [1-3], usually proceeds with low steric selectivity, leading to a mixture of threo and allo diastereomers of ethyl N-acetylthreonine (III). In the present work, we attempted to raise the steric selectivity of the hydrogenation of (II) to (III) by using modified metal catalysts.
