Аннотация:Статья посвящена проблеме самовосприятия пуритан, переселившихся в Новый Свет, а также особенностям их взаимодействия с представителями «чужих» культур и мировоззрений. Имагологическая проблематика играет важную роль в истории пуританских колоний в Америке. Самовосприятие пуритан в значительной степени происходит путем противопоставления себя «Другому».
The article is devoted to the problem of self-identification of New England puritans and to their relations with “other” cultures, views, and ideologies. Imagological issues play a significant role in the history of puritan colonies in North America. To a large extent the process of self-identification among puritans was going through the opposition to “the Other”.
