Аннотация:«Familistic analysis of mass consciousness» is a result of multi-sided and thorough research. There was reproduced a familistic image of mass consciousness from the end of the XIX to the beginning of the XXI centuries using more than 30.000 folklore samples. Current book is one of the first sociological studies of family changes based on scientific interpretation of «chastushkas» (traditional Russian folk poems) – one of the most notable forms of Russian mass folk culture. The author chose innovative source for sociological research and proved it to able to give objective information regarding family and marriage relationships. Dr. Novoselova justified the use of interdisciplinary approach and also of particular achievements in philology, history and psychology for socio-familistic analysis of «chastushkas». She also demonstrates the peculiarities of work with folklore material as a source of knowledge about family and marriage relationships. The monograph analyzes the extent and nature of influence of socio-economic and political processes on social stereotypes and family behavior in Russia.
