Аннотация:The map of geomorphic cycles/planation surfaces and the explanatory notes for it supplement and refine thegeologic and geomorphologic knowledge of the territory of Republic of Guinea, the geology and minerals of whichwere characterized in the compilation published in 2010. This is the first geomorphologic map of the vast area ofWest Africa covering the territory of Republic of Guinea and the border districts of adjacent countries where flanksof the world’s largest Fouta Djallon—Mandingo bauxite province spread to.To date and map planation surfaces, in addition to the classic method of correlating the Mesozoic–Cenozoicsediments of marginal zone of the Senegal—Guinea perioceanic basin with the planation surfaces of westernslope of the Fouta Djallon—Mandingo elevation, the chemical, mineralogical, and petrographic characteristics ofbauxites of the planation surfaces were first used. The obtained results have allowed us to distinguish the Middle–Late Miocene topography as the Main bauxite-bearing surface, which essentially differs from the traditionalviewpoint on the age of geomorphic cycles and bauxites of the region. The new data allow forecasting for bauxitebearinglateritic occurrences and bauxite grade, as well as forecasting for occurrences of high-grade lateritic ironore mineralization developed after magnetite quartzites in the region. This publication can serve for forecasting, prospecting, and exploration of mineral deposits as well as be amanual for graduate students, postgraduates, and junior researchers.
