The collective monograph is devoted to discussion on the issues of «the ground» and «the soil» concepts existing in modern scientific and legal usage. Theoretical principles of standardization and regulation of environmental land and soil quality based on dose-response relations and admissible values of impacts and responses are presented and discussed. A system of criterions and ecological quality indexes was suggested taking into account environmental conditions and land use. Approaches to a complex (cumulative) ecological land quality assessment taking into account all of the ecosystems components are presented and discussed. Ways of the sustainable standardization and regulation of environmental and soils quality maintenance in the course of land use, ecological control of land management and landscape planning and expertise are suggested and examined.
