The Russian phonetic system is prevalent in it's consonants, whereas the French language is mostly vocalic one, which means that most probably francophones will find it difficult to distinguish between the variety of Russian consonants and will have less problems with vocal sounds. The aim of this article, based on a linguistic experiment, is to show the main difficulties in acquisition of Russian consonants by francophones and to try to use peculiarities of their phonetic system in order to learn the Russian pronunciation.
